Focuses on:

  • Prevention of child maltreatment
  • Advocating for vulnerable children

Prepares graduates to:

  • Recognize variables leading to child maltreatment
  • Identify existing systems that react to child maltreatment
  • Develop a multidisciplinary approach to respond effectively to cases of child abuse & neglect in its varying forms

Child Advocacy Studies is a series of four continuing education courses that qualify for credit towards the 91ÇÑ×Ó Associate Degree in Social and Human Services. Classes are offered during the Spring and Fall terms and can be taken in any order.

  • CAS 411001: Perspectives on Child Maltreatment and Child Advocacy
  • CAS 412001: Cultural Awareness and Child Maltreatment
  • CAS 421001: Professional and System Responses to Child Maltreatment
  • CAS 422001: Responding to the Survivor of Child Abuse

This training enhances the knowledge, skills, and abilities for professionals and volunteers in public services and public safety sectors.
