- Prevention of child maltreatment
- Advocating for vulnerable children
Prepares graduates to:
- Recognize variables leading to child maltreatment
- Identify existing systems that react to child maltreatment
- Develop a multidisciplinary approach to respond effectively to cases of child abuse & neglect in its varying forms
Offers an innovative, engagement-based academic curriculum involving:
- Hands-on experience
- Practical skill development
- A focus on community & career
Child Advocacy Studies is a series of four continuing education courses that qualify for credit towards the 91ÇÑ×Ó Associate Degree in Social and Human Services. Classes are offered during the Spring and Fall terms and can be taken in any order.
- CAS 411001: Perspectives on Child Maltreatment and Child Advocacy
- CAS 412001: Cultural Awareness and Child Maltreatment
- CAS 421001: Professional and System Responses to Child Maltreatment
- CAS 422001: Responding to the Survivor of Child Abuse
This training enhances the knowledge, skills, and abilities for professionals and volunteers in public services and public safety sectors.
